Bentley Systems is seeking a talented Software Architect to become a valued member of a dedicated software architecture team. This global team’s main responsibilities are to collaborate with, support and guide other software architects in the company. The team reports to the CTO and will be in a leadership position to contribute to evangelize and operationalize his vision for the architecture of Bentley products and platform. The team will also run programs in support of common architecture practices across the company. This position should appeal to candidates that enjoy deep technical discussions and that want to be exposed to a variety of technologies. Bentley has hundreds of products of various types including desktop, mobile, traditional server and cloud microservices. Moreover, the candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a global, diverse team of remotely located experts.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Communicate architecture recommendations efficiently to generate buy-in, visibility, alignment and convergence. 

  • Leader and organizer for the architecture community of practice.  

  • Which include making sure the network of architects is active and healthy. 

  • Provide consultation services to other architects to review their ideas or help with problems. 

  • Define requirements and guard-rails for other architects to use when creating architecture. 

  • Train developers and architect or create educational supports. 

  • Includes curating a central repository of architecture. 

  • Create architecture concept documents (ACD) to capture the constraints and decisions. 

  • Create bridges between organizations and their architecture helping them see the big picture and delivering an integrated landscape of products.  

  • Help stakeholders balance the various demands to organically evolve architecture. 

  • Develop tools and automation supporting the responsibilities. 

 

Required qualifications: 

  • Strong interest in software architecture and development 

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities 

  • Capability to research a new topic and learn quickly 

  • Experience breaking down complex systems to analyze them 

  • Excellent ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, complicated technical issues and to convincingly present an optimal solution 

  • Ability to balance all architecture qualities into a proposal : security, fault-tolerance, backward compatibility, extensibility, maintainability, availability, confidentiality, integrity, usability, performance, cost-reduction, portable (multi-cloud), etc. 

  • Proficiency in cloud technologies 

  • Proficiency with security and identity 

  • Proficiency with design and architecture patterns 

  • 4-7 years of experiences in development and/or architecture 

 

Optional skills: 

  • Knowledge of web technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, HTTP, REST, ODATA, GraphQL, etc.). 

  • Good knowledge of some of the following programming platforms/languages:  .Net Core. Node.js, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C/C++. 

  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect. 

  • Knowledge of Azure. 

  • Knowledge of containerization solutions, such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Istio. 

  • Ability to make risk-based, unbiased, decisions that include both technical and business impacts. 

  • Big picture thinking of the short- and long-term repercussion of architecture choices
