Application Engineer

Location: Hybrid-Tokyo

Position Summary:

Are you ready to start a new journey with a team of energized professionals advancing and connecting the world’s infrastructure? Bentley is looking for you! We are looking for an Application Engineer reporting Solution Engineering Management to support key Bentley accounts.

Our Solution Engineering team partners with sales to showcase Bentley solutions to major global organizations. As an Application Engineer, you will prepare content and datasets, deliver product presentations, understand account requirements, and communicate this knowledge within the organization. Your role bridges Bentley products with user needs, aiding in Account Advancement, User Advancement, and Product Advancement, supporting growth of ARR and usage of our products.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Promote Bentley solutions to infrastructure audiences.
• Create presentations and demos showcasing Bentley applications.
• Prepare datasets for user presentations and demos.
• Conduct and/or support Discovery sessions, as required, define solution requirements that deliver against our accounts’ objectives.
• Support sales and marketing events.
• Contribute to proposal development and submission.
• Provide feedback to Product Teams via established channels to improve products and collaborate with Product Teams on updates.
• Research proactively and understand industry standards and recommend product configurations.
• Stay informed about industry trends and competitors.
• Demonstrate the value of our technical solutions to designers, engineers, architects, contractors and owners, and help them achieve or exceed their business goals.
• Connect with relevant stakeholders and users in the account during engagements and gather account-specific intelligence, feedback, and insights and share with the account team for incorporation into account strategy and plans.
• Communicate consistently, clearly, and timely with account stakeholders and internal colleagues including the account team. Attend and contribute to account team meetings as required, as determined by the account team.
• Support sales opportunities and account planning, execute the Bentley Sales Process, and use Salesforce to document key activities.
• Ensure a smooth transition to Services engagements through knowledge sharing.
• Support in the delivery of training, as required.
• Foster a culture of “One Bentley” and collaborating with internal stakeholders in a manner that benefits our accounts.
• Travel to user sites and software user conferences up to 50% of the time may be required.
• This is a full-time role. Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer and communication with managers, peers and other colleagues of the company in person, and by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling and meeting functions. 

What You Bring to The Team:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field; preferably an infrastructure-related background.
• 2+ years' experience in Construction Management, Virtual Design and Construction, or Project planning is preferred.
• Technical sales experience in the infrastructure or related industry preferred.
• Strong speaking, presentation, and demonstration skills.
• Ability to explain complex topics to audiences of all levels of knowledge and seniority.
• Independent judgment, creativity, and strong problem-solving skills using data to drive decisions.
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new complex products.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Effectively collaborate with teams leveraging communication and project management methods to define objectives and deliver focus.
• Knowledge of Bentley Systems solutions preferred.

Must: 

• JPN language proficiency (native or business level with credentials)
• Ability to work in Japan (VISA, PR, or equivalent) 
• English (business level or higher) 
• Experience in either a support, or business engineering (inside sales) role

Nice to have/ a real plus:

• Software and or engineering (coding) or similar technical experience
• Engineering ability (coding in JS, C++, React, C#, Python)
• Familiarity with GitHub
• Familiarity with cloud application systems and infrastructure
• Familiarity with or experience in Construction, Infrastructure, and or asset lifecycle management

Work hours:

• Regular 40 hour week with occasional late nights or early mornings when meeting with foreign product teams
• Conferences and customer/site visits require travel (within Japan).
• Occasional internal travel overseas (<1 x year).
