Engineering Manager, Computer Vision/Machine Learning

Location: United States, Salt Lake City or Bay Area preferred.

Position Summary:

We're looking for a unique balance of leadership and hands-on ML expertise to ensure the continuous growth and development of our small team. You will define our vision for the engineering team and be responsible for breaking down that vision into an actionable roadmap.  The ideal candidate will also be technically hands-on on both the algorithm development and the deployment sides.

This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week, if located in Salt Lake City or Bay area then in-office 2 days per week with 3 remote workdays.

• This position does not require travel.
• Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).

Must-haves:

• 2+ years of proven success in the technical management of a small team of less than 5 ML engineers, driving their professional growth and delivering impactful projects.
• Proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience using machine learning libraries and frameworks such as Pytorch or Tensorflow
• Mastery of defining an engineering team’s vision and roadmap
• Strong ability to prioritize and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences alike.

Nice-to-haves:

• 5+ years of management experience in developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact.
• Demonstrated experience recruiting and building small data/machine learning teams.
• Experience and familiarity with production ML environments, including model release, evaluation, and monitoring. 
• Great understanding of big data pipelines and distributed microservices and ability architect and provide feedback on these systems.
