Software Engineer (C++ and Python)

Location: Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid)

Position Summary: 

We have an open position for an experienced Software Engineer in C++ and Python to join the Facilities Engineering group at Bentley Systems. The Facilities Engineering group is responsible for advancing software and services for Plant, Building, and Structural engineering domains. As a Software Engineer, you will work in small, focused, and empowered teams to deliver software of excellent quality that will be used and loved by our users. You will participate in transforming our industry leading products on their journey to contributing to and leveraging cloud services and solutions.

Responsibilities: 

As a Software Engineer I, you will participate in the design and will implement software that will meet quality, performance, maintainability, testability, and other criteria set by the relevant stakeholders. You will assist the Technical Leads in implementing the software as designed, investigating problems and designing the solution. You will work in small, empowered teams, following the empowered teams' model. Your work areas will include: 

• Develop, maintain, enhance, and refactor products on their journey to Digital Twin Enablement.
• Take ownership of the functionality you write and the designs you implement.
• Research, evaluate, and explore new technologies as needed.
• Support, enhance, and maintain existing solutions.
• Develop unit/integration/system and/or other tests during the project to ensure code assets are of quality and satisfy required use cases.
• Document the solution.
• Work in no-estimate sprint agile teams.

• Contribute as a member of a small, focused, multi-disciplinary, self-organizing team, be involved in technical designs and decisions, and retrospect to continually improve our effectiveness. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years' experience designing and implementing excellent quality software
• Strong knowledge of C++ and Python 
• Has strong Knowledge of methodologies, design patterns, including Object-Oriented Programming, SOLID, DRY principles, and Unit testing frameworks. 
• Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and Scrum development practices.
• Should be able to link or identify other affected areas of the problem. 
• Can write clear, maintainable, testable, efficient, and secure code. 
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Able to propose a software design for a small to medium problem with optimal patterns and strategy

It would be awesome if you have:

• Experience with Git - DCVS 

• Experience with C#, TypeScript/JavaScript, and web development with Node.js & React.
• Backlog Management Tools: TFS/ADO/Jira.
• Exposure to Azure DevOps.
• Experience reading and drawing Software Design Diagrams.
• Proficiency in Mathematics/Trigonometry (Geometry).
• A general understanding of infrastructure designs, engineering, and construction is a plus.
