Position Summary
Bentley (BSY) is recruiting a Product Expert to join its Civil Engineering team. The Product Expert bridges domain knowledge and technical skills to ensure the product meets users’ needs. With practical industry experience and an understanding of evolving trends, this role links product requirements with technical solutions. By combining insight and acumen, the Product Expert shapes strategy, informs the roadmap, and guides development to deliver meaningful value.
Responsibilities
- Engage with users to gather feedback, understand pain points, and identify areas for improvement. Build strong relationships with key clients and industry partners.
- Identify user needs and functional gaps to inform product strategy and roadmap decisions.
- Evaluate defects to identify potential workflow improvements or reengineering opportunities to inform product strategy and roadmap decisions.
- Identify industry trends and competitive landscape to inform product strategy and roadmap decisions.
- Participate in user discovery initiatives and technical explorations focused on determining product requirements, inform strategy development, hypothesis validation, and user/usability testing.
- Act as a voice representing technological advancements and industry trends within the product team.
- Play a proactive role in product planning and maintaining a detailed product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and stakeholder expectations. Prioritize features and enhancements based on user feedback and market analysis.
- Create and maintain product documentation, including user guides, technical specifications, and release notes.
- Provide training and support to internal teams and customers, ensuring they have the knowledge and resources needed to effectively use our products.
- Provide a cross-company perspective and contribute to ensuring functional consistency across products and product lines; recommend APIs or protocols that facilitate integration and accessibility.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, UX professionals, Marketing, Sales, and Technical Support throughout the product lifecycle phases.
- Support internal enablement activities by sharing domain and product knowledge with internal teams through training, seminars, documentation, or other knowledge transfer methods.
- Engage in industry development by attending conferences, discussions, and forums. Identify emerging technologies and opportunities in a timely manner.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of software systems.
- This role requires minimal travel.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration) preferred.
- Extensive domain expertise in road design and civil engineering, including current practices, emerging trends, and technical advancements. Direct experience performing the work of Bentley’s target users is highly desirable.
- Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions. Experience with data analytics tools and techniques is a plus.
- A passion for understanding and meeting user needs and distilling the connection to product capabilities and usability.
- Ability to practically apply scientific and domain knowledge to influence product development plans and decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally, build strong working relationships, and drive alignment across teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex domain and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
