Position Summary
Content Engineer is a hands‑on technical individual contributor responsible for creating, managing, and delivering high‑quality learning content for Bentley products. This role applies product and workflow expertise to design, build, publish, and maintain learning assets that enable users, consultants, and internal teams to successfully adopt and apply Bentley technologies.
The Content Engineer works across the content lifecycle—authoring, recording, moderating, and maintaining learning content—while collaborating closely with Product Management, Solution Engineering & Services, and Bentley Learn stakeholders. The role also requires managing operational learning touchpoints, including Bentley Learn Channels and Ask the Expert modules, ensuring content accuracy, relevance, and responsiveness to learner needs.
Responsibilities
- Create, record, and maintain technical learning content, including self‑service courses, videos, hands‑on exercises, and structured learning programs aligned with Bentley Learn framework.
- Apply product knowledge to translate engineering workflows into clear, practical learning experiences for users at varying proficiency levels.
- Manage assigned Bentley Learn Channels, ensuring content accuracy, consistency, and relevance.
- Manage the relevant Ask the Expert sections of Bentley Learn platform.
- Respond to learner questions by providing clear, technically accurate, and actionable explanations.
- Identify recurring questions or themes and translate them into new or improved learning content.
- Identify recurring learner questions and feedback and convert them into new or improved learning content.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Solution Engineering & Services, and Subject Matter Experts to validate technical accuracy and ensure learning content reflects supported use cases.
- Coordinate with video editing, content operations, and product teams to keep channels current and complete.
- Support learning programs and accreditations by contributing to content development and reviewing learner submissions to ensure alignment with defined skill levels.
- Manage content pipelines using internal systems to track development, publishing, updates, and retirement of learning assets.
- Ensure all content adheres to Bentley standards, templates, and instructional best practices.
- Continuously improve content quality based on learner feedback, engagement insights, and product evolution.
- Foster a culture of “One Bentley” by collaborating across teams in a manner that benefits our accounts and learners.
This is a full‑time individual contributor role, which involves collaboration and coordination with peers, leadership, and other colleagues. Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Construction, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
- 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in engineering, technical consulting, application support, or technical learning/content development roles.
- Hands‑on experience with any one or more of the following Bentley applications - ProjectWise, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and Bentley Structural Analysis products (STAAD.Pro, RAM, etc.) in a production, consulting, or support environment is preferred.
- Experience using Camtasia or similar video recording and editing tools is a plus.
- Previous experience creating technical documentation, training materials, or instructional content is desirable.
- Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to apply instructional design principles (e.g., learning objectives, content sequencing, learner‑centric design) to create clear, effective technical and product content is a desired skill.
- Experience of working cross‑functionally with teams such as product management, services, or engineering teams is a desired skill.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A continuous improvement mindset, proactively identifying gaps and proposing solutions to improve learner outcomes.
- Effective time management and organizational skills to manage multiple content streams independently.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast‑changing product and learning environment.
- A desire to learn, grow, and deepen both technical and instructional expertise.
