Associate Software Engineer

Location:  Madison, WI (in-office)

Position Summary:

Bentley Systems is looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our Power Line Systems team to design, develop, and support the industry standard in overhead line design software. We are looking for someone eager to join our integrated team of developers, and civil and electrical engineers as we work to expand our software’s capabilities.

What you will do:

• Gather user requirements to define system functionality
• Execute the full software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Develop flowcharts, diagrams, and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
• Write well-designed, testable code
• Develop and maintain software functionality
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems

Who you are: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
• Skilled in C++ software development
• Proficiency in software engineering tools including an Integrated Development Environment (Microsoft Visual Studio) and Source Control
• Ability to document requirements and specifications
• Experience developing Microsoft Windows desktop applications
• Familiarity with Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC)
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript (React, Node, etc.)
• Experience with multi-threaded programming
• Experience with client/server software
• Experience with networking/RESTful API
• Familiarity with 3-D modeling
• Familiarity with finite element analysis
• Familiarity with cryptography
• Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer. The role requires communication with managers, peers and other colleagues of the company in person, and by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling and meeting functions.
• Requires presence at the Madison, WI office
