Position Summary:

At Bentley Systems, our HR Operational Excellence team isn’t just the traditional HR department. We are results-driven, collaborative, and autonomous. We lead change through the execution of critical processes, procedures, and programs, and are innovative problem solvers with a desire for continuous improvement. As the HR Manager, Canada, you will implement best practices, establish rapport with colleagues and senior leaders, and drive efficiencies across HR processes.

 

This position provides an opportunity for an experienced and dynamic HR professional with a deep knowledge of Canadian employment regulations to further establish their career within a global organization. You will be responsible for executing all core HR functions in Canada as an influential HR advisor, and will partner with the corporate centers of excellence to drive global HR functions, such as talent management, compensation, talent acquisition, learning and development, and talent systems and analytics. Your days will be diverse and challenging, frequently interacting with talented colleagues and senior leaders within our organization. The HR Manager position is based in Quebec City, Quebec, reporting to the HR Manager, US North & Canada located in our Exton, Pennsylvania (USA) office at Bentley headquarters.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and drive continuous improvement of regional human resources processes, policies, and procedures across various provinces.
  • Maintain and develop a quality, equitable and inclusive work environment for all colleagues in Canada with a focus on colleague engagement and business results.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Advancement team members and Payroll department to deliver operational excellence enabling effective onboarding, off boarding, data management, data integrity and compliance.
  • Lead transformation of strategic programs by providing highly efficient HR solutions, championing change, growing operational excellence, advising leadership, and focusing on tactical implementation.
  • Fully administer the benefits programs, study and assess benefit needs and trends, and make recommendations for changes/updates.
  • Respond to ad-hoc colleague requests in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Partner with centers of excellent to execute corporate programs and initiatives, including but not limited to: Goal Setting, Performance and Feedback, Talent Review, Bentley NOW, and training facilitations.
  • Administer and oversee performance management and disciplinary cases hand-in-hand with management, including coaching conversations, PIPs, and PEPs.
  • Manage end-to-end coordination on acquisitions by working closely with the business and acquisition team.
  • Own regional staffing actions and reorganizations to ensure compliance and compassion for those impacted.
  • Collaborate with the Global Compensation team to manage the compensation process and achieve internal parity (including gathering data, benchmarking etc.), serving as an active advisor/support for managers in compensation proposal.
  • Maintain expertise in legal and compliance requirements related to day-to-day management of colleagues in Canadian provinces, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Provide guidance to stakeholders when specific compliance issues arise.
  • Ensure essential and timely updates of colleague handbooks, HR policies and various procedures through the institution of a regular review cycle.
  • Act as mobility point of contact for the country – Host or Home country coordination.
  • Work hand in hand with HR Shared Services team and HRBP colleagues
  • Proactively stay current on industry trends, constantly researching and recommending best practices to follow.
  • Demonstrate company values and behaviors every day.
  • Supports TSA team to ensure accurate data is captured and updated in personnel files (local hard copies and in the talent management system).
  • Represent HR in labor arbitration, working hand in hand with the legal team and HR Leadership team on such cases.
  • Knowledge share with the Global HROE team so others can refer to and replicate successful patterns/information
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate manager.

  • Query turnaround time and proactiveness in completing required tasks
  • Collaboration with Talent Advancement team and other Bentley departments to effectively deliver results
  • Willingness to explore new areas and venture into new projects (involvement, ownership and completion)
  • Knowledge sharing with the other HROE team members to further standardize and optimize processes globally

 

Desired Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field of study
  • 4-7 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a generalist or HR manager capacity
  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence change & process improvements.
  • Detail oriented and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record in successfully building effective working relationships
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and knowledge of various HR Information Systems (SuccessFactors experience a plus)
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and demonstrate tact, discretion, and good judgement.
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Ability to travel between provinces and internationally when restrictions have been lifted (less than 5%)
