Senior Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid Pune 

Position Summary 

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining modern full-stack web applications for the Bentley Infrastructure Cloud product line. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in React-based frontend development, C#/.NET backend development, Azure Functions, SQL Server, cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, and CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities 

• Design and build scalable, production-grade front-end applications using React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6+), with a strong focus on maintainability, accessibility, and performance.

• Own front-end architecture and technical design decisions, applying responsive design, object-oriented principles, and proven design patterns to deliver intuitive, user-friendly experiences. 

• Apply AI-assisted engineering workflows responsibly, using developer copilots and intelligent tooling to accelerate scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, and analysis while ensuring code quality, security, and production readiness through human judgment. 

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to analyze requirements, solve complex problems, and propose effective technical solutions. 

• Take full ownership of production-level code, adhering to coding standards, participating in code reviews, debugging and root-causing complex issues, and maintaining clear technical documentation. 

• Design, develop, and consume RESTful APIs, ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient integration between frontend and backend services. 

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and microservices using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core. 

• Develop and support cloud-native and serverless solutions using Azure Functions, integrating with event-driven and distributed architectures. 

• Design, develop, and optimize database solutions using SQL Server, including schema design, data modeling, stored procedures, query optimization, and performance tuning. 

• Contribute to end-to-end solution design across frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and data layers, ensuring scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability. 

• Leverage Azure and Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, deployments, monitoring, and operational readiness. 

• Experience designing scalable, resilient, and maintainable software solutions for large-scale applications. 

• Analyze system-level trade-offs related to performance, scalability, reliability, security, and cost. 

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices, technical standards, and architectural discussions. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including frontend and backend application development. 

• 3+ years of hands-on experience building production-scale applications using React and TypeScript. 

• Strong expertise in frontend architecture, object-oriented design, and software engineering best practices. 

• Hands-on experience developing backend services using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and RESTful APIs. 

• Experience building and maintaining full-stack applications that integrate React-based frontends with .NET backend services. 

• Strong experience with Azure Functions and cloud-native application development on Microsoft Azure. 

• Experience working with Azure services such as App Services, Storage Accounts, Service Bus, Key Vault, Application Insights, and related cloud technologies. 

• Strong experience with SQL Server, including database design, schema management, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting performance issues. 

• Experience designing scalable distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, and microservices-based applications. 

• Experience working with and consuming RESTful APIs, including authentication, authorization, and API integration best practices. 

• Good understanding of application security, identity management, and secure development practices. 

• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps. 

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and logical thinking skills with the ability to independently drive complex technical solutions. 

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively across product, design, frontend, backend, and platform teams. 

• Senior-level ownership mindset, including operating with minimal supervision, maintaining high engineering standards, and delivering reliably under pressure and tight timelines. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with microservices architecture and event-driven systems. 

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. 

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and cloud automation. 

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. 

• Knowledge of engineering, infrastructure, construction, or digital twin domains is a plus. 

• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and modern software engineering practices.
