Technical Business Development Manager – Commercial

Position Summary:
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help expand and grow Cesium’s presence in the commercial market. This role includes supporting existing customer relationships and crafting a strategy to build new partnerships with companies that can benefit from 3D geospatial technology.
Cesium is already well established in the commercial space, with strong partnerships with companies like Maxar, Nvidia, and AGI, and a global community of users of our open-source components. Your job will be to support these partners and customers, expand their use of Cesium, and secure new opportunities in key industries.
Responsibilities:

Support existing commercial customers and users to ensure their use of Cesium is successful, expanding adoption where it makes sense.

Act as the main point of contact for several large new opportunities in the pipeline, supporting clients and working closely with project managers to ensure success.

Identify, shape, and win new business opportunities, from early conversations to proposals, technical discussions, and closing deals.

Build relationships across industries. Stay close to customers and partners, understand their challenges, share insights with our engineering team, and demonstrate how Cesium can deliver value.

Develop a strategy to acquire more commercial sales and establish Cesium as the leading 3D geospatial solution in commercial markets.

Collaborate with our marketing team to showcase how commercial organizations are using Cesium. Help create demos and use cases to highlight what’s possible.

Attend and speak at relevant industry conferences to advocate for Cesium, and help identify the events and communities where we should invest time.
This is an individual contributor role.
This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week.
This role requires communication with managers, peers, and colleagues in person and via Microsoft Teams.
Role requires 25–30% travel.
Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer.
Qualifications:

5+ years of business development and sales experience in commercial markets with a strong record of revenue generation success. Bonus points for experience in geospatial, simulation, or related industries.

A tech-savvy businessperson with a strong understanding of the geospatial ecosystem and how different tools and standards can work together. Background as a software developer or other technical role is a plus, though not required.

Ability to quickly learn new technical capabilities and apply them to customer use cases in commercial industries.

Strong communication skills. Able to clearly explain technical products to both technical and non-technical audiences, and identify how Cesium can meet customer needs—in person and in writing.
