Software Engineer II, Structural 


Bentley is investing in the next generation of its industry‑leading structural analysis and design portfolio. We’re seeking a Structural Engineering Software Developer with a strong passion for building commercial‑grade engineering applications used by professionals worldwide. In this role, you will contribute directly to advancing our core analysis engines, implement and maintain international design codes, and develop innovative analysis and design capabilities that tens of thousands of structural engineers rely on every day.
 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain the core structural engineering modules with an emphasis on finite element analysis. .
  • Translate structural engineering theory and design code requirements into reliable software algorithms.
  • Develop and maintain verification and validation (V&V) benchmarks and regression tests
  • Document engineering assumptions, algorithms, and limitations clearly for internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, quality assurance, product management, and technical support.

 

What are the required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of working experience in Structural / Civil Engineering domain.

 

What you Bring to the Team:

  • Thorough understanding of structural/civil engineering principles with a strong mathematical background.
  • Experience interpreting and using strutural engineering design codes such as AISC, ACI, IS, Eurocodes etc.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, C#, FORTRAN, Python
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

 

 

What would make you stand out: 

  • Prior experience in software development
  • Exposure to advanced FEA analysis techniques. E.g. Nonlinear analysis (material, geometric, or contact nonlinearity)
  • Prior experience with advanced analysis programs such as ADINA, ANSYS
