Position Summary:

Bentley Systems invites talented individuals to join our high-performance team of Sales Engineers.  As a Sales Engineer you generate sales revenue to meet or exceed established sales goals in software products, services, training and subscriptions. You develop business opportunities in your assigned territory through your own efforts and those of your colleagues. In addition, you will qualify all incoming sales leads generated from any source and act upon the qualification accordingly. 

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, are self-motivated, have preferably experience at inside and/or business-to-business sales and you speak the language of our users and prospects because you have experience in Construction and/or Design Engineering


Sales Engineers are focused on finding new business opportunities with new accounts or within existing accounts at Bentley. They are responsible for selling product licenses and subscriptions as well as services related to the product licenses and subscriptions.

Sales Engineers are responsible for achieving assigned sales quotas and goals for users and prospects located within a defined geographic territory and specific product range.

Sales Engineers are expected to prospect and develop business, respond to RFPs and other incoming sales leads, develop proposals and give presentations and demonstrations to existing users and prospects, all in close cooperation with Inside Sales Representatives. They will coordinate resources and collaborate with other Bentley colleagues where and when necessary. They will devote considerable amount of time to visiting prospects, existing users and sales events in their assigned territory.


Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

  • Look for and find prospects in your territory in various ways (existing contacts in the CRM-system (Cloud4Sales), internet, outbound calling, visiting relevant public events such as trade shows, etc.);
  • Work directly with both existing (up- and cross selling) and new users;
  • Participate in relevant exhibitions, congresses and other events;
  • Qualify and quantify each lead and sales opportunity;
  • Develop and manage a sales pipeline and forecast and report business bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly;
  • Develop relationships at various levels within prospects and users through use of direct sales techniques. Your points of contact will predominantly be engineers and architects;
  • Negotiating and implementing approved sales and service contracts;
  • Utilize Cloud4Sales (Bentley’s CRM system) as a daily sales tool and reporting system to manage contacts, leads, all sales opportunities, and forecasts;
  • Creating and managing effective territory sales plans;
  • Hosting and (co-)presenting web presentations and demonstrations with Application Engineers for prospects and users;
  • Maintaining a high knowledge level of the company's applicable products and services.


Relevant Experience:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture or equivalent level achieved through experience;
  • You gained engineering experience (preferably 2 to 3 years), like the engineering world but found out that you don’t want to be a practicing engineer;
  • Preferably you hold an applicable professional qualification (for example PE, CE, …)
  • You have strong experience using Civil Engineering software solutions
  • You have commercial talent, minimum 1-2 years’ experience in sales or customer service are required, and can close a deal in a pleasant non-intrusive manner;
  • You are a self-starter;
  • You combine customer focus with being service oriented and highly motivated;
  • You have a positive attitude, eye for detail, are resourceful and inquisitive;
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively present information to users and prospects via phone, web and face-to-face;
  • Software proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required;
  • You should have the ability to travel up to 50% of your time;
  • Living in or close to the designated sales territory will turn out to be essential.
  • Language Skills: Spanish, English, Portuguese a plus
