Senior Product Manager
Location: Preference is for a candidate based in Madison, WI. This role will be office-based or hybrid if located in Madison, WI, or home-based for other locations in the US.
Position Summary:
Power Line Systems is looking for a dedicated and talented individual with a passion for overhead lines to join our team as a Senior Product Manager. Our Senior Product Managers need to be experienced overhead line and structure designers with either Transmission or Distribution background, and show proven proficiency in using our software. You will be hands-on in helping our clients tackle some of the industry’s largest challenges through technical support and training efforts, as they use our software to modernize the grid.
We work in a fast-paced environment on the cutting edge of industry and are looking for candidates to come and be a part of the Industry Standard in overhead line design and analysis software.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Provide technical support for clients via phone, email, and web video.
- Assist in the development and testing of new and existing features in the software.
- Creating technical notes, videos, presentations, and other similar materials to assist users in staying up to date with new and existing features.
- Generate content for the website, YouTube channel, and any other similar online forum/platform, and support the Product Marketing team to deliver product positioning and content.
- Conduct, participate, and/or assist with training courses, both online and in person, to ensure that clients have the knowledge and resources needed to effectively use our products.
- Conduct thorough discovery and research to understand user needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape. Use insights to inform product development and positioning.
- Conduct web demonstrations of PLS software and in-person demonstrations when applicable.
- Create/maintain user manuals for PLS products.
- Attend occasional industry conferences and expo’s and assist in creation of materials for booths and other miscellaneous displays at these events.
- Assist current clients and possibly new clients in purchasing decisions of additional or new licenses as needed.
- Ability to travel (less than 10% of time) to industry events, user meetings, and other Bentley offices.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
What You Bring to The Team:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is considered.
- Knowledge demonstrated by at least 5 years of experience in:
- Overhead line design
- Design and management of overhead line projects, including conception, design, construction, and line energization
- Field experience in the management and construction of overhead line projects
- The use of PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and TOWER software
- Various supporting structure types, including self-supporting lattice steel structures and poles, as well as guyed lattice steel structures and poles
- Work with overhead lines in relation to other utility departments, such as generation and substations, as well as line planning.
- Passion for understanding customer needs and delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
