Position Summary:


We are seeking a talented researcher with postdoctoral experience to work on a project related to pedestrian simulation modelling to be implemented in the core of a simulation engine. The overall goal of the project is to significantly deepen the understanding of human crowd dynamics, by developing a framework to compare outputs of simulated crowds with real data. This framework will consist of a series of novel mathematical calibration/validation methods for the analysis of crowd simulations to predict observable quantities in real crowds, such as flow patterns and density.

Your Day-to-Day:


The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating fundamental issues in crowd motion, leveraging heterogeneous data from multiple sources. When you join us you will learn to develop and benchmark prototype simulation engine and statistical algorithms in C++, Python, and R working as part of a Scrum team to the highest standards required by the industry.


What You Bring To The Team:


  • An essential requirement is a PhD in statistics, applied mathematics, physics, or computer science from a top university.
  • Having at least 2 years postdoctoral experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of statistics, machine learning, or computer vision is essential.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages (C++, C#, Java, Fortran, R, Python) is essential.
  • Experience in data driven modelling techniques is desirable.
  • Developing and benchmarking prototype statistical algorithms.
  • An analytical mind, with strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Writing reports and publications, giving presentations.
  • Flexible approach and ability to take on new skills.
  • Self-starter, team player and good communicator.
