Job Summary


The Finance Manager EMEA and Latin America is a newly established role within Bentley’s growing finance organization. Reporting to the International Finance Director, the position will be crucial in further establishing an international center of excellence for technical accounting, financial reporting as well as related systems, processes and controls aspects as Bentley continues its IPO readiness journey.

This role will be responsible for overseeing the application of Company accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS. The role will directly oversee the statutory and group accounting and financial reporting aspects in EMEA and Latin America which represent approximately 35% of Bentley’s global operations. Working closely with the Corporate Finance Team in the US, this role will also function as a subject matter expert for US GAAP and IFRS related aspects for Bentley’s international finance organization. Initially, this will include supporting the local teams with the implementation of the new revenue recognition standard (ASC 606/IFRS 15).  

This is a high-profile position which will have significant interaction across the Bentley organization such as, the Corporate Finance Team in Exton, Pennsylvania, regional finance and business leads and executive management. The nature of this role will require developing a deep understanding of Bentley’s business and various commercial models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of country/functional controllers located in the EMEA and LA region. 
  • Oversee the group and statutory financial reporting closing process for Bentley’s entities in EMEA and Latin America and ensure compliance with group (US GAAP and IFRS) and statutory accounting policies, as applicable.
  • Act as subject matter expert with respect to US GAAP and IFRS for the International Finance Organization.  
  • Prepare and/or review technical accounting positions on new complex arrangements and closely partner with the Corporate Accounting Team on technical accounting matters, accounting policy and changes thereof, such as the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, e.g. revenue and lease accounting.
  • Partner with the Corporate and International Finance Teams on the enhancement, documentation and execution of key financial reporting controls, including business performance reviews and other entity level controls.
  • Perform/oversee monthly financial and accounting analysis.
  • Partner with the Intercompany Controller in Exton on the accurate accounting of intercompany contracts.
  • Oversee statutory and other filing compliance aspects within the assigned region.
  • Manage/oversee statutory and group audit aspects for EMEA and Latin America; assist with tax audits and liaise with external auditors to evaluate new arrangements and technical accounting issues.
  • Partner with Tax. Legal and Treasury on cash distribution opportunities.
  • Participation in bi-weekly global finance meetings and leading role in quarterly international finance meeting.
  • Assisting with process improvement and automation projects.
  • Assisting with acquisitions (due diligence, purchase price allocation, post-closing integration,  ..).



  • University or higher education degree in business accounting or Economy.
  • Thorough understanding of international accounting and reporting requirements (IFRS and US GAAP).
  • Thorough understanding of financial control requirements, such as SOX 404 requirements in the US.
  • A minimum of 6 years-experience in accounting, reporting or audit; preferably gained in one of the Big-4 auditing firms.
  • Experience in leading teams in a multicultural environment.
  • Can-do, role-up-your-sleeves attitude.
  • Change agent who consistently challenges the status quo and drives improvements to processes, controls and systems.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills; fluent in English and Dutch, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Software technology industry preferred, but not required
  • SAP knowledge preferred, but not required
  • Some travel will be required (up to 10%)
