Position Title: Visual Designer


Location: This role is v-connected or in-office in Toronto or Exton.


Position Summary:

As a UI/Visual Designer, you will help define and execute our brand applications to help build a consistent user experience across our digital platforms. This role designs to a big-picture view and is also a systems-capable thinker, applying an exciting and appropriate brand expression to our digital experiences while refining and crafting our digital design system. This person will manage and execute multiple initiatives at a time – working closely with VP, Digital Experience, UX, engineers, developers and other stakeholders. This person knows good design works, is in touch with the market and can communicate their vision using simple, clean, engaging design strategies. We’re looking for an eager and passionate visual designer who will work collaboratively and engage and support in design-thinking activities when necessary.



  • Help lead the charge on developing Bentley’s digital visual language
  • Take ideas and concepts, and visualize them in such that they are communicated effectively and compellingly to internal leaders, partners, and customers
  • Connect the dots between business requirements, innovation, analytics, and good design through visual representation of ideas 
  • Work closely with UX to turn visions into concepts and translate those concepts into designs that illustrate simplicity, despite the complexity of the system, service, or infrastructure
  • Directly responsible for leveraging UX research and delivering UI specifications, design standards, high-fidelity prototypes, and customer-ready assets.
  • Collaborate effectively with researchers, product management, development, marketing, and other team members
  • Use facilitative leadership skills to drive the best outcome for stakeholders, resulting in others learning from you, and inspiring others to want to work with you
  • Be an expert in the emerging industry UI trends, across web, mobile, and tablet platforms, competitors, and strategies, and share this information with the team 
  • Respond to day-to-day questions from UX/UI designers, technology teams, vendors, developers & product managers
  • Documents ongoing progress and status on work assignments, and communicates these updates during status meetings
  • Experience in writing detailed design specifications, which technology developers use to build the experience  
  • Work both collaboratively and independently while maintaining a high level of productivity
  • Assist in QA to identify, document, and verify design bug fixes  



What We Need from You:

  • 3-5 years of experience demonstrating a track record designing digital experiences, and services across mobile, responsive web, desktop, and beyond
  • A professional portfolio showcasing problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental design competencies and hands-on experience of any competence of choice.
  • An eye for detail
  • Presentation and storytelling skills


Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in information design, UI design, Human Factors, related field, or relevant experience
  • Minimum three years experience at real-world companies – preferably SaaS or technology-focused
  • Mastery of user design skills
  • Ability to communicate design rationale and build consensus
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines
  • Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems
  • Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into a tangible form
  • Familiarity with the Windows and/or Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adobe CC Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Sketch, Invision/Marvel, Figma a plus
