Senior Finance Manager

Job Summary:
As a Senior Finance Manager focusing on expenses, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis of Bentley's operating costs across various business units and functions. You will work closely with budget owners, finance managers, and accounting teams to ensure expense data is properly captured, allocated, and reconciled. You will also support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, as well as provide insights and recommendations for expense optimization and efficiency. This position requires a strong background in financial analysis, accounting, and strategic thinking, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business units to understand cost drivers and identify areas for efficiency improvements
- Analyze expense data across different dimensions, such as business units, functions, regions, products, and projects, and provide meaningful insights and commentary
- Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, by providing expense assumptions, templates, and guidance to budget owners and finance managers
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis on actual vs. budgeted expenses, providing insights into variances and trends
- Assist in the development and maintenance of expense allocation models and methodologies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and drivers
- Identify and implement opportunities for expense optimization and efficiency, by conducting benchmarking, scenario analysis, and best practices research
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as IT, Finance, HR, and Procurement, to understand and influence expense drivers and decisions
- Develop and enhance expense reporting and analysis tools and processes, leveraging data automation and visualization technologies
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to expense management and control and highlight areas for attention
- Partner with department heads, project managers, and executives to understand business plans and align expense strategies accordingly
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support for special projects and initiatives
- This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week, hybrid in the US.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements). The role requires communication with managers, peers, and other colleagues of the company in person (on occasion), and by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling, and meeting functions.
- This role requires infrequent travel to the Bentley office in Exton, PA.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, a related field, or relevant training and experience (Master's/MBA a plus)
- 12+ years of proven experience in financial analysis and reporting, preferably in a software or technology company
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, especially related to expense recognition and allocation
- Proficient in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, etc.) and experience with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Qlik)
- Workday Adaptive knowledge and experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to a diverse audience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and positive attitude
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline-oriented environment
