Bentley Systems is currently looking to hire a Payroll Manager in our Corporate Controllership department located in our Exton, PA headquarters. This role will be responsible for managing the entire payroll process to ensure that all colleagues are properly paid, and related reporting and compliance documents are filed on a timely basis.


Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all aspects of U.S. and Canadian payrolls including the following:
    • Managing the processing of multi-state/multi-province payroll for 1,500 colleagues in the US and Canada including:
      • Ensuring that all semi-monthly and monthly payroll tasks are completed on
        schedule and according to established procedures.
      • Ensuring compliance with Federal/State/Local and Canadian laws and staying current with new legislation; enforcing adherence and advising management of actions required.
      • Reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, voluntary deductions, direct deposits and departmental transfers.
      • Reviewing and approving calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
      • Managing timesheet processing for non-exempt colleagues and ensuring accurate processing of all time and attendance data.
      • Directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
      • Review and post monthly ADP generated payroll entries into SAP.
    • Managing the tax filing process with ADP
    • Managing the processing of equity awards, garnishments, 401 (k) wires and vendor payments
    • Manage and review the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
  • Maintaining colleague confidence, protecting information confidentiality and providing excellent customer service
  • Participating in special Finance projects, as well as payroll-related and corporate audits
  • Preparing and timely filing individual and corporate tax reporting forms and reconciliation to all general ledger payroll accounts
  • Focusing on process improvement by working with ADP, Human Resources and outsourced
    service providers venders on data interfaces and automation
  • Develop/enhance and maintain Payroll policies and procedures
  • Ensuring that company policies and procedures are properly followed as well as maintaining
    accurate payroll internal controls and SOX compliance documentation
  • Recruiting and cross training of the U.S and Canadian Payroll specialists
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through training, publications and networking
  • As the payroll leader, partner successfully with Human Resources and other senior leaders across multiple functions
  • Preparing ad-hoc reports as required
  • Working on assignments requiring judgment and initiative



  • Multi-state (required) and Canadian payroll experience (preferred)  
  • Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred
  • Significant experience driving all payroll processes
  • Minimum 5 years ADP payroll experience
  • Experience with SAP, ComputerShare, Success factors and Projector a plus
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, pro-active, and analytical
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet critical payroll deadlines a must
  • Confidentiality and tact in dealing with sensitive employee information
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic planning and implementation project management skills
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Excel & Word)
  • Accounting degree or equivalent experience preferred
