Director, Corporate Crisis & Risk Readiness
Date: Sep 8, 2026
Location: Exton, PA, US
Company: Bentley Systems
Location: Hybrid 1x per week in our Exton, PA office.
Position Summary:
Bentley is looking for a Director, Corporate Crisis & Risk Readiness to own oversight and execution of Bentley’s corporate crisis and enterprise risk management practices.
This is a role for a senior crisis and risk professional who understands the unique and evolving challenges facing global public technology companies, and can translate key risks and threats to artifacts, guidance, and exercises that position Bentley to effectively safeguard our company, colleagues, and communities.
The Director, Corporate Crisis & Risk Readiness will partner closely with colleagues across the organization to strengthen Bentley’s ability to identify and mitigate emerging corporate and governance risks, and to ensure we’re equipped to respond to crises, and other unanticipated situations should they come to pass. In this role your days will be diverse and engaging, and we’re looking for someone with range and interest in working strategically as well as tactically. You will own critical workstreams and artifacts like enterprise risk assessments and mitigation plans, corporate crisis playbook, multi-tier corporate crisis simulations, crisis signal scanning, and crisis and risk vendor and partner relationships, technology platforms, and training.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Bentley’s corporate crisis readiness and enterprise risk practices considering strategic business priorities and regulatory and governance requirements to safeguard company, colleagues, and communities.
- Identify, build, and maintain corporate crisis enablement tools and resources to equip executives and functional teams to make the best decisions in the most high-pressure situations.
- Work with business and functional owners to identify enterprise risks and to develop practical action plans that reduce likelihood, impact, or response complexity of these scenarios. Ensure risks are informed and addressed by corporate crisis playbook materials.
- Design, build, and facilitate multi-tier crisis simulations that test leadership judgment, decision-making, governance, communications, escalation, and cross-functional coordination to build muscle memory and confidence. Identify and oversee mitigation efforts to ensure response readiness in the event of a real corporate crisis.
- Identify, build, and maintain crisis signal scanning and response tools such as AI agents and alert platforms to ensure Bentley can respond to prevent or mitigate crisis based on early warning signals.
- Partner closely with teams in Legal, Compliance, IT, Finance, HR, Marketing, Facilities, and Investor Relations to identify, implement, and support best practice outcomes in the risk and crisis areas.
- Identify and maintain relationships and budgets with appropriate consultants and vendors to ensure Bentley is immediately able to get the right support for a defensible approach when needed.
- Maintain and improve the formats, locations, access points, and delivery mechanisms for crisis readiness and risk materials so they are useful, accessible, and actionable.
- Advise on and support ongoing incidents that may not rise to “corporate crisis” status, but have complex, corporate-level implications.
- Promote a culture of preparedness, disciplined escalation, psychological safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
- This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week. The role may require flexibility during active incidents, crisis simulations, urgent escalations, or time-sensitive response activities.
- Up to 20% travel required, with potential for some international travel.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, public relations, legal studies, security, business continuity, or a related field, or relevant training and/or experience.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in crisis management, corporate resilience, enterprise risk, business continuity, or related, including experience managing crisis response, tabletop exercises, business continuity planning, and/or enterprise risk mitigation.
- At least 2 years of experience working in risk and/or crisis response at a technology company.
- Experience working in a publicly-traded company and strong understanding of SEC rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategic concepts in corporate crisis and risk into operational materials such as playbooks, frameworks, templates, decision tools, escalation models, governance processes, etc.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams, vendors, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholders.
- Experience operating in highly matrixed organizations and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
- Strong systems thinking: comfort connecting dots and identifying implications to support effective decision-making considering market/regulatory dynamics, media and investor behavior, customer drivers, and other stakeholder priorities.
- Experience or interest building and maintaining AI-enabled monitoring, threat intelligence, social listening, media monitoring, incident management platforms, emergency notification tools, or similar technologies.
- Strong business judgment and ability to balance risk management with commercial objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex issues into clear, practical, executive-ready materials.
- Proven ability to remain objective under pressure, and experience supporting others in navigating sensitive issues logically.
- Experience navigating crisis and risk implications at a global company preferred.
