Position Summary:
As Director Government Relations for India, you will lead Bentley’s engagement with policymakers at the central and state levels in the country. Your mission will be to ensure that public policy in India supports our sustainable growth and that we remain a trusted partner to deliver on the country’s ambitious Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. You feel at home at the intersection of law, politics, and business, and will elevate Bentley’s participation in debates around digitalization of infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Represent Bentley in emerging policy debates and regulatory developments related to digitalization of infrastructure, including through meetings with policymakers at the central and state levels. Focus on infrastructure-focused ministries, particularly the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Department of Telecommunications, and NITI Aayog.
- Shape and contribute to key national policy discussions, including the National Digital Twin Policy, PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, and digital delivery mandates in public procurement.
- Manage and execute public policy-related projects and support Bentley’s advocacy toward policymakers. Enable and coordinate meetings with key stakeholders (external and internal) to reach set advocacy goals.
- Represent Bentley in relevant trade/industry associations and events and help drive Bentley’s objectives in these fora.
- Produce and manage government relations content and collateral for outward-facing meetings. Content shall include presentations, one-pagers, and deeper substantive papers on how Bentley’s technology is improving quality of life and making infrastructure more sustainable and resilient.
- Brief, prep, collaborate with and advise Bentley colleagues on India-related policy matters as needed (e.g. Sales, Legal, Communications).
- Engage with global and local funding agencies like World Bank, Asia Development bank to align their priorities with Key Ministries on funding national programs under PM Gati Shakti master plan.
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of government relations-relevant experience in India, spanning both central and state government engagement.
- Direct prior experience working with infrastructure-focused ministries and a strong understanding of the PM Gati Shakti ecosystem and digital twin policy conversations.
- A robust network of key stakeholders in Delhi's central government and within infrastructure-heavy state governments (e.g., Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh).
- Demonstrated experience leading engagements with policymakers and executing successful public policy-related projects. A self-starter with the ability to think strategically and develop creative policy proposals.
- Excellent knowledge of India’s political and legislative process.
- The ability to effectively communicate and advocate for Bentley’s policy positions, with strong writing and analytical skills.
- Ability to work as part of a global team, with a high degree of self-awareness, integrity, and accountability.
- Master’s degree or equivalent.
- Excellent command of English and Hindi; proficiency in other regional languages is an advantage.
- Some travel required (15-20%).
