Position Summary:
As a Water Solutions Architect at Bentley Systems, you will serve as the primary technical sales expert, leveraging Bentley’s industry-leading software to deliver innovative, repeatable solutions for clients at water utilities, engineering firms, and technology companies. You will work closely with sales, product, services, and marketing teams to translate business needs into robust digital solutions that address the complex challenges facing the water infrastructure industry today.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate Bentley’s product vision and strategy across the asset lifecycle (plan, design, construct, operate & maintain) during account engagements including the evolution of the OpenX platforms, digital twins, and generative artificial intelligence.
- Communicate hydraulic modeling and digital twin workflows to empower existing and prospect accounts to better plan, design, and operation resilient, sustainable water infrastructure.
- Collaborate with solution managers and accounts to gather requirements to design, prototype, and validate technical solutions for water infrastructure projects. Prepare and deliver technical demonstration content to support go-to-market activities for new water solutions.
- Lead the technical strategy for competitive RFI and RFP proposals to win new business.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proposed solutions align with both technical and business requirements.
- Architect comprehensive solutions by selecting the optimal combination of Bentley products to meet client needs.
- Define compliant and competitive solution delivery workflows to ensure successful client outcomes.
- Facilitate technical discovery workshops and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept solutions to prospective accounts, in cooperation with sales colleagues and product teams.
- Stay current with water industry trends, competitive landscape, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies to ensure Bentley’s solutions remain at the forefront of the sector including but not limited to: presenting at water industry conferences, participating in or chairing an industry committee, and developing strategic professional relationships in the water industry.
- This role requires travel (up to 15%) to account locations, Bentley offices, conferences and related training venues, mostly domestic but some international as required.
- This is an individual contributor role.
- This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week.
- This role requires communication with Managers, peers and other colleagues of the company in person, and/or by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling and meeting functions.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one or more of Bentley’s water modeling infrastructure softwares, particularly: OpenFlows Water, OpenFlows Sewer, and/or OpenFlows Storm: WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, StormCAD, and HAMMER and/or competitor products.
- Develop a working knowledge of tangential OpenX products (OpenPlant, OpenRoads, etc.), iTwin Experience (iTwin IoT and Context Capture), Bentley Infrastructure Cloud (ProjectWise, SYNCHRO, and AssetWise tools), and newly acquired technologies (Cesium, Seequent, Blyncsy, etc.), and strategic partnerships (Microsoft and Google).
- Possesses practical experience delivering hydraulic modeling projects at a consulting firm or supporting hydraulic network modeling workflows at a water utility.
- Ability to develop a deep understanding of Bentley’s Water Infrastructure Digital Twin Platforms in a short time frame utilizing existing knowledge of technologies commonly used in the water utility industry including: CAD/BIM (e.g. Autodesk, Bentley), real-time monitoring systems (e.g. SCADA, IoT, AMI), analytics (e.g., PowerBI), or asset management systems (e.g. GIS, CMMS).
- Familiarity with cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) business models, technology interoperability, and integration with third-party platforms.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management, and sustainability practices in the water sector.
Industry Awareness
- Strong grasp of the challenges facing water utilities, including aging infrastructure, climate adaptation, emergency preparedness, and the circular economy
- Awareness of industry best practices for digital transformation in water planning, design, operations, and maintenance.
Communication and Collaboration Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to deliver compelling presentations and demonstrations tailored to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with internal teams and external clients to drive solution adoption and success.
