Principal Technical Architect

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Technology Architect for China to lead our technology vision, product innovation, and digital transformation in the region. The architect will play a key role in aligning China’s product and technology strategy with Bentley’s global direction, while tailoring solutions to meet the specific needs of the Chinese market. This role will focus on driving adoption and localization of digital twin technologies, AI-driven enhancements, cloud, and future technology innovation across our China operations. The successful candidate will lead a regional technology team and collaborate closely with global R&D, and product, and China executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Technology Leadership & Vision
• Drive the adoption and integration of iTwin technologies within China-based product lines and solutions.
• Work with or lead a cross-functional technology team in China, ensuring high performance, innovation, and alignment with corporate goals.
• Act as a bridge between China and Bentley global product and engineering teams, ensuring consistency in technology strategy and architecture.
• Strategic Alignment & Roadmap Development
• Partner with China business leadership to define and execute regional technology roadmaps that align with global strategies but are tailored for China’s regulatory, market, and customer landscapes.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies and product opportunities to maintain competitive advantage in the China market.
• Support business growth through technology foresight and product differentiation.
• AI Strategy & Innovation
• Provide strategic direction for AI-enabled product innovation within the China region.
• Oversee or initiate technology and market research activities to explore how AI can improve product user experience and value in the infrastructure technology space.
• Guide teams on developing AI use cases and pilot projects relevant to local market needs.
• Collaboration & Communication
• Serve as the principal technical spokesperson for Bentley China’s leadership team when communicating with global colleagues and partners.
• Foster a culture of innovation, engineering excellence, and collaboration across global and regional teams.

• None

Required Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

• Experienced software development skills including technology and product architectures and programming experiences with various desktop, cloud and web applications.
• Proven experience (10+ years) in technology leadership roles, ideally within infrastructure, AEC (architecture, engineering, construction), digital twin, or enterprise software sectors.
• Deep understanding of digital twin technologies, especially Bentley’s iTwin, platforms, and implementation approaches in the China context.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML trends, tools, and applications relevant to product development and user experience.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead technical teams, with experience working in both regional and global matrix organizations.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to align regional needs with global vision and execute accordingly.
• Experience with product-market fit, roadmap creation, and local adaptation of global technologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in Mandarin and English is required.
• Experience working across cultures and time zones is a strong advantage.
