Senior Technical Consultants will have a proven experience and successful track record leading key technical tracks for IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management implementation projects. Senior Technical Consultants are advisors to the client and to members of their team on these projects.  They participate in functional workshops, facilitate, and lead technical workshops, devise and design technical solutions for the business requirements including the translation of functional requirements (pseudo-code) into technical designs.  The Senior Technical Consultant must be an expert in Maximo functionality and demonstrated experience developing data conversion solutions and integrations with multiple external systems.  The Senior Technical Consultant applies standards for software development life cycle in accordance with the company’s methodologies. 

The Senior Technical Consultant will be responsible for developing associated deliverables for the workshops they facilitate and support.  In addition, architecting, designing, documenting, and prototyping the associated technical solutions for the IBM Maximo system configuration to be implemented.  The Senior Technical Consultant ensures the quality of technical documentation and often works closely with the Solution Architect and Project Manager to meet delivery schedules and quality expectations.


Senior Technical Consultants also participate in the development, execution, or delivery of integrated system tests, change management, training, post go-live support, and lead defect remediation activities.  Senior Technical Consultants may also participate with client assessments and other Business Development activities. This position reports to Consulting Services Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Facilitate and participate in technical workshops
  • Develop Detailed Design Documentation according to the plan
  • Design and develop User Interfaces
  • Configure and build User Experience prototypes
  • Analyze and define data conversion requirements
  • Analyze, design, and engineer integrations with third-party and external systems
  • Develop technical training Materials
  • Conduct technical training and knowledge transfer with clients
  • Provide software deployment support
  • Collect and document Business Processes and Functional Requirements
  • Design reports and dashboards
  • Design mobile solutions
  • Define and conduct SQA testing
  • Support Change Management activities
  • Develop End User training material
  • Ensure quality of written materials
  • Design and engineer automation scripting solutions
  • Design and engineer data conversion transformations and loadings
  • Lead technical teams on projects
  • Mentor and develop team members
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, including:
    • MS Word,
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
    • Visio
    • Teams
    • SharePoint
  • MS Project preferred but not required
  • May be required to obtain security clearances to perform work with clients.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized higher educational institution, in the field of Business, Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • IBM Certified Deployment Professional - Maximo Asset Management most current version
  • IBM Certified Associate – Maximo Asset Management most current version

Knowledge & Experience

  • 5 years of relevant hands-on experience working with a business software application(s). Such as IBM Maximo, Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, SAP, and PowerPlan
  • 5 years of hands on experience collecting end-user requirements through meetings and interviews.
  • 5 years of experience designing solutions that meet end user requirements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Experienced using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Heavy experience with databases (Oracle and SQL Server) and expert skills with Structured Query Language (SQL).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with data warehouses and data marts.
  • Experience designing and developing multi-dimensional data structures (Cubes).
  • Experience installing and administering IBM WebSphere and Maximo.
  • Experience designing, installing, and configuring clustered Maximo environments.
  • Experience designing, installing, and administering middleware such as Oracle, SQL Server, and an Enterprise Service Bus.

Work Conditions

  • Position may require travel, up to 75% per year.  Work may be completed under varied conditions with the client (conference rooms, office settings, plant environment) depending on the location.  Much of the work can be handled remotely, so depending on the assignment, it is possible that a candidate will not travel to client site.
