IT Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst

 

 

Location: Home-based/Hybrid, Canada (Eastern Time preferred)

 

Position Summary:

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive IT Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and overseeing Bentley’s software licenses and assets.  Their primary role will involve ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, reducing costs, and maximizing the value derived from our software investments. They will collaborate with various organizations such as VMO (Vendor Management Office), finance, and legal, to ensure compliance and cost-efficiency for Bentley’s software usage. 

 

This role requires a strong understanding of software licensing models and excellent analytical skills. Familiarity with SAM tools and software license management platforms is crucial for effectively performing this role. Additionally, staying updated with licensing models, industry trends, and legal requirements related to software usage ensure continued success in this role.

 

Your Day-to-Day:

 

  • License Compliance: Tracking software licenses to ensure compliance with vendor agreements, avoiding penalties due to under-licensing or non-compliance.
  • Inventory Management: Maintaining an accurate inventory of software assets across the organization, including details like license keys, versions, installations, and usage.
  • Optimization: Identifying opportunities to optimize software usage and costs, such as by reallocating underutilized licenses or recommending more cost-effective licensing options.
  • Cross Organization Collaboration: Ability to work with cross-functional organizations and leadership to produce goal driven results.    
  • Reporting and Analysis: Analyze and report on software usage, performance, costs, identify areas for optimization and improvement.
  • Policy Development: Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to software deployment, usage, training and awareness within the organization.

 

What You Bring to The Team:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, related field, or relevant training and experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of previous software asset management experience is required.
  • Proven experience working in Software Asset Management or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in using SAM tools and software license management platforms and Configuration Management (CMDB).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams globally.
  • Familiarity with legal and regulatory aspects of software usage is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Software Asset Manager – CSAM, ITIL v3 Certification) are advantageous
  • This is a full-time role expected to work 40 hours per week, home-based in Canada.
  • Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements). The role requires communication with managers, peers, and other colleagues of the company in person (on occasion), and by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling, and meeting functions.
  • This role requires 1 trip per year to the corporate office in Exton, PA.
